NVIDIA has announced that Game Ready drivers for Windows 10 will only be released until October 2026 - just one year after Microsoft ends official support for the operating system. This means GeForce RTX graphics card owners will only get a brief reprieve before needing to transition to Windows 11.
NVIDIA's decision appears more as a temporary concession rather than a long-term solution for those reluctant to upgrade to Windows 11. Windows 10 remains remarkably popular, still powering nearly 45% of computers worldwide. Just last month, Windows 11 finally surpassed its predecessor with a 52% market share, according to StatCounter's July 2025 report.
NVIDIA also revealed support timelines for older graphics cards based on Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta architectures. The company will release the final Game Ready driver for these cards in October 2025, but will continue providing quarterly security updates until October 2028. This extends support for some models to an impressive 11-year lifespan.
However, CUDA architecture support for these GPUs will be discontinued in the next CUDA Toolkit update.
