New evidence has emerged that the next feature update for Windows 11, version 25H2, will be built on the Germanium platform that also serves as the foundation for the current 24H2 version. In simple terms, both system versions will share a common codebase and will be distributed as a small cumulative update that simply activates improvements and new features.
This information was found in system files of the latest Windows 11 Canary channel insider build. Specifically, the AppraiserRes.dll library contained a "GE25H2" entry with build number 26200 ("HostOSBuildNumber"). Credit for this discovery goes to user Xeno and the Deskmodder portal.
It's worth noting that Windows 11 builds numbered 26200 are currently being tested by Insiders in the Dev channel. The Windows 11 version 25H2 release is expected to arrive this fall.
