Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2) begins mass distribution

Windows 11

Microsoft, on the "Release Information" page, announced the start of the widespread rollout of the Windows 11 2024 Update (version 24H2). This means that this version of the operating system is now available to all users with devices that meet the minimum system requirements. Recall that the release of Windows 11 2024 Update occurred on October 1, 2024.

To get the update to Windows 11 version 24H2, open the "Settings" app, go to the "Windows Update" section, and check for updates. Afterward, a block titled "Windows 11, version 24H2 is available" should appear on the page. The update remains optional, so you must manually agree to install Windows 11 version 24H2.

The update may not appear in Russia and Belarus due to geo-blocking by Microsoft. To resolve the issue, try configuring a DNS server from Comss.ru using this guide, or enable a VPN connected to any European country, then check for updates again. If the issue was related to geo-blocking, the update should appear.

If after all these steps the update still does not appear, it is likely that the update for your device is currently blocked due to compatibility issues. Once Microsoft resolves the problem, the block will be removed, and the update will become available for installation.

You can also manually upgrade to Windows 11 version 24H2 using the Media Creation Tool or ISO images. However, if the update is unavailable specifically due to compatibility issues, Microsoft does not recommend performing a manual update as it may lead to serious system stability problems.

Information about known issues in Windows 11 version 24H2 can be found on Microsoft's website: https://learn.microsoft.com/.
