Windows 11 Build 27871

Windows Insider Program 11

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 preview build 27871 for Windows Insiders in the Canary channel.

Full build number: 10.0.27871.1000.rs_prerelease.250529-1415.

New Features

Power Management in Microsoft Intune

Windows 11 now supports battery saver management through Microsoft Intune, enabling IT administrators to control power-saving settings via Group Policy and MDM configurations.

This feature intelligently manages battery consumption, extending device runtime between charges. It optimizes battery life by efficiently managing power usage, limiting background activity, and reducing screen brightness while maintaining optimal performance. Automated system process management helps reduce overall energy consumption.

IT admins can enable this policy in:

  • Windows 11 Local Group Policy Editor
  • Microsoft Intune admin center

Find the policy at: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Power Management > Battery Saver > "Enable persistent battery saver mode".

Changes and Improvements

  • Phone Link:
Rolling out gradually to Insiders across all channels.
    • View smartphone app notifications directly in Start menu, now grouped by application.
    • Android screen mirroring can now be initiated from Start menu via device icon or bottom panel option.
    • iPhone memories accessible through Start menu. iCloud for Windows users can view recently synced photos and access their full iCloud library.
  • Taskbar and System Tray:

Known Issues

  • General:
    • [Important note for Copilot+ devices] Switching to Canary channel from Dev, Release Preview or stable Windows on Copilot+ devices may cause PIN/biometric login failures with error "Something went wrong, your PIN isn't available" (code 0xd0000225). Select "Set up PIN" to recover.
    • Engineers are investigating missing Acrylic effects on taskbar after update, causing black/white UI elements in some components.

Happy testing!
