Changes and improvements

  • General:
    • This update includes a small set of improvements and fixes designed to enhance the overall operating system experience.
  • File Explorer:
    • Microsoft has resumed testing a change where folders opened from outside File Explorer (e.g., from an app or the desktop) will now open in a new tab by default if you already have a File Explorer window open. If you prefer folders to continue opening in a new window, you can change this behavior in Folder Options → Open folders. This change was disabled in build 22635.4800 to address identified issues.
    • The change that added text labels for the "Cut," "Copy," "Paste," "Rename," "Share," and "Delete" buttons in File Explorer's context menu has been disabled. Insiders can update to Windows 11 version 24H2 where this change remains available.

Fixes

  • Start menu:
    • Fixed an issue where, when using enlarged text size, the "Sign out" button and additional options might not appear in the account manager in the Start menu.
  • File Explorer:
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused File Explorer to crash when copying or renaming files.
  • Input:
    • Fixed an issue where some apps could stop responding to text input after disconnecting from a Remote Desktop session.

Known issues

  • Start menu:
These issues only affect the new "Grid" and "Categories" views:
    • When right-clicking an app, the "Start menu options" context menu briefly appears before the app's context menu.

Happy updating!
