New Features

Profanity filter setting for voice typing

Based on feedback, Microsoft is introducing a new setting that controls the profanity filter for voice typing. When enabled, "Voice Typing" will continue filtering profanity by replacing it with asterisks. When disabled, profanity will be entered into text fields like any other words.

To change this setting, launch "Voice Typing" with Win + H, go to settings and toggle the "Filter profanity" switch.

Changes and Improvements

  • Taskbar and System Tray:
    • Administrators can now allow users to unpin certain pinned apps, ensuring they won't be repinned during the next policy update cycle. This is configured using the PinGeneration option. Details can be found at this link.

Fixes

  • File Explorer:
    • Fixed an issue where tapping the "View" button in File Explorer with touch input could cause File Explorer to crash.
  • Windows Spotlight:
    • Fixed an issue where the Windows Spotlight popup with "learn more about this image" information (when used as desktop background) could remain on top of other application windows.
  • Input:
    • Fixed an issue where using the touch keyboard's symbols section could insert characters into password fields when switching pages.
  • Settings:
    • Fixed an issue where hovering over cards in "System" → "About" used incorrect corner rounding radius.

Known Issues

  • Xbox Controllers:
    • [New] Some Insiders may experience GSOD when using Xbox controllers via Bluetooth. To resolve, open Device Manager, select "View" → "Devices by driver", locate "oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)" (where "XXX" is the device sequence number), right-click and select "Uninstall".

Happy updating!
