Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5600 (Dev Channel)

Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5600 (Dev Channel)

Windows Insider Program 11

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 preview build 26200.5600 (KB5058493) for Windows Insiders in the Dev channel.

Full build number: 10.0.26200.5600.ge_prerelease_im.250507-1403.

Reminder: The Dev channel has transitioned to builds numbered 26200. This means the option to switch from Dev to Beta channel will disappear after installing build 26200.5510. If you haven't switched to Beta yet but want to, you can pause updates when build 26200.5510 appears in Windows Update, switch channels, then resume updates.

Builds numbered 26200 are based on Windows 11 version 24H2 and will include many features and improvements available in 26120 builds for the Beta channel. Over time, developers will begin implementing hidden platform changes, which may result in known issues differing from Beta channel builds.

Entra ID Support for AI Features in Paint and Notepad

Microsoft is testing Entra ID support for AI features in Paint (version 11.2503.381.0+) and Notepad (version 11.2503.16.0+) for Insiders in Canary, Dev, and Beta channels. This update enables commercial customers to access AI features previously available only to consumer users. In Paint, Entra ID unlocks Cocreator (generates images by combining sketches with text prompts) and Generative Fill (adds new elements to selected canvas areas based on descriptive input). These tools help teams visually explore ideas and accelerate creative workflows. In Notepad, Entra ID enables quick text summarization and rewriting capabilities.

Copilot+ PC Enhancements

Text Actions in Click to Do for AMD and Intel

Intelligent text actions in Click to Do are now available on Copilot+ devices with AMD and Intel processors. Use WIN + mouse click or WIN + Q to select a text block, then highlight text to see options for summarizing, creating bullet points, or rewriting (e.g., making text more formal).

Click to Do leverages Phi Silica, a small language model (SLM) integrated into Windows. Results appear in a popup window, and satisfactory outputs can be copied to clipboard for use anywhere.

These intelligent actions require: English as default system language, selection of ≥10 words, and Microsoft Account/Microsoft Entra ID authentication.

For Insiders with "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" enabled

Changes and Improvements

  • Click to Do:
    • French/Spanish language users will temporarily see only "Summarize," "Create bulleted list," and "Improve" text actions. "Rewrite" functionality will return in future updates.
  • Dynamic Lighting:
    • Dynamic Lighting-compatible devices can now be safely removed via the taskbar's "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.
  • Settings:
    • A new Settings agent is rolling out to Beta channel Insiders. The feature will appear in Dev channel once machine learning models are configured for Dev, arriving in a future build.
    • Microsoft has added an FAQ section (Settings → System → About) with answers to common PC questions covering system configuration, performance, compatibility, etc. This should help users make informed device decisions.

Fixes

  • Start Menu:
    • Fixed several crashes affecting Start menu stability in recent builds.
  • File Explorer:
    • Resolved deadlock causing Explorer hangs during homepage loading
    • Fixed missing "Shared by" and "Activity" tooltips for recent documents
    • Addressed explorer.exe crashes when closing File Explorer
  • Voice Access:
    • Fixed Spanish language crashes
  • Taskbar:
    • Fixed keyboard focus getting stuck on taskbar pane when using Tab/Shift+Tab
    • Resolved media control flickering in taskbar thumbnails
  • Windows Spotlight:
    • Fixed "Learn about this picture" popup appearing above other windows
  • Live Captions:
    • Fixed crashes occurring in previous build
  • Other:
    • Improved MMC (Microsoft Management Console) selection colors in normal/high-contrast modes
    • Fixed underlying issue causing app hangs (e.g., Word) during printing

Known Issues

  • General:
    • System reset via Settings → System → Recovery may show build number 26100 instead of 26200. This won't affect future Dev channel updates where the issue will be fixed.
    • [NEW] System reset functionality is currently non-functional in this build.
  • Xbox Controllers:
    • Some Insiders may experience GSOD when using Xbox controllers via Bluetooth. Fix: Open Device Manager → View → Devices by driver → Locate "oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)" → Right-click → Uninstall.
  • Recall:
    • Recall can be uninstalled via "Turn Windows features on or off." This disables Recall opening methods and removes binaries. Windows may temporarily retain non-executable binary copies for servicing.
    • Update Microsoft 365 apps to latest versions for proper document recall functionality.
  • Click to Do:
    • [NEW] Image actions may not appear
    • [NEW] AMD/Intel Copilot+ PCs may experience delays during first-time text action use after build install/model update
    • [NEW] Spanish/French text actions may not work for Dev channel
    • [REMINDER] Text actions now use local prompt/response moderation instead of cloud solution
    • [REMINDER] If image object actions are missing, update Photos and Paint apps via Microsoft Store
  • Enhanced Search:
    • [REMINDER] For optimal search performance on Copilot+ PCs, keep device plugged in during initial indexing. Check status at Settings → Privacy & Security → Windows Search.
  • Start Menu:
    • Investigating reports that clicking profile picture doesn't open account manager
  • Task Manager:
    • "CPU Usage" column may show 0% for "System Idle Process"
    • Performance tab CPU graphs still use legacy calculations
  • Narrator:
  • Voice Access:

Happy testing!
