Announcement of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26200.5603 (Dev channel)

Windows Insider Program 11

Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 preview build numbered 26200.5603 (KB5058488) for Windows Insider Program participants using the Dev channel.

Full build number: 10.0.26200.5603.ge_prerelease_im.250513-1054.

As a reminder, the Dev channel has transitioned to builds numbered 26200. This means the option to switch from Dev to Beta channel will close after installing build 26200.5510. If you haven't switched to Beta yet but want to, you can pause updates when build 26200.5510 appears in Windows Update, switch channels, then resume updates.

Builds numbered 26200 are based on Windows 11 version 24H2 and will include many features and improvements available in 26120 builds for the Beta channel. Over time, developers will begin making platform changes that may cause known issues to differ from Beta channel builds.

For Insiders with the "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" toggle enabled

New Features

AI Actions in File Explorer

AI Actions in File Explorer enable deeper interaction with your files. Right-click to quickly perform actions like image editing or document summarization. Similar to Click to Do, AI Actions let you stay in your workflow while using AI capabilities to access editing tools in apps or Copilot features without opening files.

To try this feature, right-click a file in File Explorer to find a new "AI Actions" menu item containing available actions.

Currently four image actions are available for testing with .jpg, .jpeg and .png files:

  • Bing Visual Search: Search the web using images instead of text to find similar images/products, identify websites using the image, and recognize landmarks/plants/people.
  • Background Blur: Opens Photos app to automatically detect backgrounds, isolate subjects with one click, and blur backgrounds with adjustable intensity or brush tools.
  • Object Removal: Mark unwanted elements in Photos app for "Generative Erase" to remove distractions.
  • Background Removal: One-click background removal in Paint, working for full canvas or selected areas.

New AI Actions for Microsoft 365 files will roll out in coming weeks:

  • Document Summarization: Generate summaries for OneDrive/SharePoint documents (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .pdf, etc.) without opening them individually using Copilot.
  • FAQ Generation: Transform OneDrive files into formatted Q&A lists for knowledge bases, meeting prep, or guides. Supports .xlsx, .pptx, .docx, .pdf, etc.

Requirements for Microsoft 365 file AI Actions:

  • Document summarization requires Microsoft 365 with Copilot (personal Microsoft accounts/Microsoft Entra ID)
  • FAQ generation requires enterprise Microsoft 365 with Copilot (Microsoft Entra ID only; personal accounts coming later)
  • Must be Microsoft 365 Insider receiving Beta channel builds (details)

Advanced Settings Page

Microsoft introduced a revamped "For developers" Settings page renamed to "Advanced" with new features, making settings more accessible at Settings → System → Advanced.

New options include:

  • Enable Long Paths: Removes MAX_PATH limitations for Win32 file/directory operations
  • Virtual Workspaces: Toggles environments like Hyper-V and Windows Sandbox
  • File Explorer + Version Control: Displays Git repo info (branch, changes, last commit etc.) directly in File Explorer
