The release of the stable version of Microsoft Edge 135 has taken place

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft has begun rolling out the stable version of Microsoft Edge 135 (135.0.3179.54), which includes several new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where AppLocker was blocking known DLL libraries such as well_known_domains.dll and domain_actions.dll.

Announcements

  • Root Certificate Store Update. Microsoft Edge's root certificate store operates based on the Microsoft Trusted Root Program. A recent update means certificates will no longer be trusted by default if they're verified by one of the listed Entrust root certificates and the earliest Signed Certificate Timestamp (SCT) has a date after April 16, 2025, 7:00:00 UTC. Enterprises using websites with affected certificates should obtain and deploy new certificates unaffected by this change before the specified date. Alternatively, enterprises can override this restriction by installing the relevant root certificate as a locally trusted root certificate in the operating system. Enterprises choosing this option should carefully evaluate the associated risks.

  • Microsoft Search functionality in Microsoft Edge address bar. After March 31, 2025, the address bar in Microsoft Edge for business will redirect users to search results on M365.cloud.microsoft rather than Bing. You'll still be able to find documents, bookmarks, and people related to your workplace, but clicking suggestions in the address bar will take you to M365.cloud.microsoft. You can also type "work" in the address bar, press the Tab key, and enter a work-related query to get search results on M365.cloud.microsoft. Learn more about the retirement of Microsoft Search in Bing at this link. These changes are active in Microsoft Edge starting with version 134.0.3134.51.
  • Redesign of Work Feed on Edge's new tab page. The Work Feed, available on Edge's new tab page for enterprise customers with Microsoft 365 subscriptions, has received several changes and improvements, with greater emphasis on productivity and Microsoft 365 integrations.
Starting mid-April 2025, users will see the updated My Feed interface on the new tab page for enterprises. You'll no longer be able to view content and activity in your network but will get quick access to recently used Microsoft 365 documents, recently created SharePoint sites, upcoming Outlook events, Microsoft 365 apps, and To-Do tasks.
Policies for managing the new tab page remain in effect with no changes to the policies themselves. Additional details can be found at these links: new tab page in Microsoft Edge for business and Work Feed in Microsoft Edge.
Note: These changes are rolling out in phases using controlled feature rollout technology.

Feature Updates

  • Edge feature usage data synchronization. The sync module that allows user data synchronization across multiple devices now includes a new category - "Feature Usage" - which synchronizes data about used Edge features to optimize browser performance.
  • Trending suggestions in address bar on new tab page. Microsoft Edge's new tab page will now display popular search queries in the address bar dropdown. Administrators can control this feature's availability using the AddressBarTrendingSuggestEnabled policy.
  • Authorized group configuration in Microsoft Edge for business. The "Authorized Group" setting ensures Edge enforces "Printer Groups," "Removable USB Device Groups," and "Network Share Groups" configurations from the Microsoft Purview compliance portal. This change prevents users from bypassing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) protection through Edge, enhancing security and regulatory compliance.
